On An Inhale

To modify!
Use blocks

Use a strap

Grab a blanket

Bend your knees

Take a childs pose

Take your time

Just breathe, find a place where you are working but not hurting.

I taught a new class this morning which I think will end up being a perminent class. If so, it will be on my Yoga Classes page. There were a bunch of athletes in the class that really benefited when they used a block or modified their pose. If you don't have these props use a big book for a block (make sure it doesn't slip) or a rolled up towel as a strap or blanket. Get creative but as always, stay safe. I'm excited to hopefully create classes that help athletes and help them with their sport.

What is your favorite prop?

I seem to need blocks for everything! Probably wouldn't if I went to yoga more often :) I'm re-taking an intro to yoga series workshop starting tonight - I want to be a better yogi!

I love to use a block, especially in triangle. I find it helps me focus on my twist instead of concentrating so hard on getting my hand to the floor and toppling over.

I'm trying Barre3 tonight - I'll let you know how it goes!

At first it was a hit to my ego, but I've recently had to start using blocks under my hands during simple lunges. I have a labral tear in my hip, and it prevents me from sinking really deep into anything involving the hips. I can still lunge without the blocks, but I'm usually on the tips of my fingers, wobbling a bit; putting the blocks under my hands gives me that slight lift that makes the pose comfortable and enjoyable. I've finally accepted the fact that I'd much rather find pleasure in my yoga poses than suffer because of some stupid shame I have over two pieces of foam.
