First off...How was everyones weekend?

Yesterday was full of Nutrition School homework and planning my class for tonight! I'm a little bored at the end of my macrobiotics lesson. Sorry macrobiotics I think I hit my limit after an hour. My red Nutrition School ipod goes everywhere with me! I bring it to the gym then write down notes when I'm back. They now give you an ipad...I had to buy my own but whatever!
THE SECRET..dun dun dun...For the month or so I have been a vegetarian or pescatarian since I still eat fish.

Why I kept this to myself...

I wanted to see how I felt and how it worked before I shared anything. I've also been concerned about how other people would react. I tested the waters and no one has really made a deal of it. Not that it would change anything, I just needed to get comfortable with it.

Why give up meat in general...

Well as I learn more about meat, specifically the production of it, it started to gross me out. I stopped wanting  and craving it and started to make vegetarian choices while out to eat. Hormones, antibiotics, ammonia and salt water are pumped into our meat, turning me off to them. Also, the animals are usually treated and raised in a disgusting manor which I do not want to be apart of.

How I feel about organic meat...

I think eating organic meat should be how meat eaters eat (if that makes sense). The regular restaurant (unless advertised) isn't going to spend the extra money buying organic meat. For me, staying clear of meat all together makes me feel better.

Keeping my views open...

I'm not going to preach this onto anyone or even limit myself to one title. Right now not eating meat works for me. My mom has already asked me about Thanksgiving. She said she would buy a free range organic turkey from Whole Foods if that would make me feel better. We'll see! I'm still educating myself.

This is just another step in my food journey and trying to be as healthy as possible. I'm not trying to stir up a political debate but I would love to hear your thoughts.

I have a dear friend who has been vegetarian since she was 12. Her reasons for avoiding meat were environmental but she's diving back into meat for two reasons: 1. There is access to environmentally-friendly meat now and 2. Human beings are carnivores and all signs from her doctors and nutritionists pointed to her needing to have meat in her diet.

I am cutting back on meat but definitely not cutting out. I don't think it hurts to cut out certain food items for a limited amount of time. But permanently? I'm not sure about that.

Good luck on trying it out though! Looking forward to hearing about your progress on it.

Thanks! We'll see how it goes. Everyone is different and reacts differently to foods. so far so good. I'll be checking in with this every so often :)

I am pretty much doing the same as you! I haven't had red meat in over 6 months now, and limit my chicken/turkey/pork, only buying organic/free range. Same with my eggs!

There are so many awesome veggie options now, and great recipies (Pinterest!!!!) XO

I have also cut back on my meat intake..well red meat only...but I feel better for doing it...although I had a sliced sirlion medium rare the other night and MAN was that good. After I felt a little bloated but I do think that balance is the key.....in everything!
